Corpus: Incisive foramen

The foramen incisivum is the unpaired opening of the right and left canalis incisivus in the region of the anterior palate, just behind the two anterior upper incisors (incisivi).

The incisive foramen is located in the area where the two halves of the upper jaw fuse in the median plane. The nasopalatine nerve and the terminal branch of the descending palatine artery pass through the foramen. The mucosa above the foramen is slightly bulging and forms the incisive papilla.
