Corpus: Frontal vein

The frontal vein is a vein of the face that drains venous blood from the forehead.

The frontal vein is formed on the forehead from a venous plexus that communicates with the frontal branches of the superficial temporal vein. The small veins form a common vascular branch that runs caudally near the midline of the forehead parallel to the frontal vein on the opposite side.

At the root of the nose, the veins diverge and pick up the supraorbital vein at the medial orbital angle to form the angular vein.

As a variation, the right and left frontal veins sometimes unite to form a common vein, which branches out again at the root of the nose.
