Corpus: Deep temporal artery
1. Definition
The anterior and posterior deep temporal arteries are branches of the maxillary artery.
2. Classification

- Posterior deep temporal artery
3. Course
The two deep temporal arteries ascend between the temporalis muscle and the periosteum of the skull. They supply the aforementioned muscle and anastomose with the superficial temporal artery. Additionally, the anterior deep temporal artery forms anastomoses with the lacrimal artery.
4. Function
The deep temporal arteries supply the temporalis muscle and the periosteum of the temporal fossa.
