Corpus: Anterior tibial recurrent artery

The anterior tibial recurrent artery is a branch of the anterior tibial artery.

The recurrent anterior tibial artery branches off from the anterior tibial artery immediately after this vessel has crossed the free edge of the interosseous membrane. It ascends cranially in the tibialis anterior muscle and supplies this muscle. Its terminal branches branch anteriorly and laterally to the knee joint and radiate into the rete articulare genus. Here they anastomose with the branches of the popliteal artery and the descending geniculate artery.
