Synonym: aortic bulb
German: Bulbus aortae

The bulbus aortae is the slightly bulbous extended initial part of the ascending aorta consisting of the three sinus aortae (also "Sinus of Valsalva") extending from the closing edge of the respective aortic pockets and the aortic wall.

From the front and left sinus arise directly from the heart the coronary arteries (arteriae coronales) to supply the heart muscle.
