German: Systembiologie, Systeomik
Systems biology is an innovative, interdisciplinary branch of biomedical research that uses methods from systems theory, biology, medicine, mathematics, physics, technology and computer science.
Subject of systems biology is to understand and model metabolic processes in several organisational levels of the organism like cell, tissue, organ and body in a qualitative and quantitative manner. A first step in systems biology tries to gather interactions of DNA, RNA and proteins in a comprehensive way that allows computer simulation of cellular functions ("in silico").
