Superior phrenic artery

1 Definition

The superior phrenic arteries are a pair of small vascular branches of the thoracic artery that exit immediately above the diaphragm.

2 Course

The superior phrenic arteries spread into the diaphragm, which they supply with arterial blood. There it anastomises with the musculophrenic artery, the pericardiacophrenic artery, and the inferior phrenic artery.
