German: Anulus fibrosus sinister
The left fibrous ring is a collagenous fibre ring that belongs to the fibrous rings. It spans the left atrioventricular ostium and delimits this in the valve plane or the plane of the cardiac skeleton.
The left fibrous ring serves as a fixed point of suspension of the atrioventricular valves of the mitral valve. Ventrally, it is bordered by the aortic ring and the left fibrous trigone. On the right side, it is bordered by the right fibrous trigone.
