Diiodothyronine

German: Diiodthyronin

Diiodothyronines are thyroid hormones belonging to the class of iodothyronines and having two iodine atoms.

Depending on the position of iodine atoms three isomers are distinguished:

  • 3,5-T2: A highly active thyroid hormone stimulating the TR-Beta receptor
  • 3,3'-T2: A minimally active iodothyronine
  • 3',5'-T2: An inactive metabolite
