1 Definition

The digital anatomy is a subfield of anatomy which deals with the processing of human body structures into a computer-accessible format.

2 Hintergrund

The digital anatomy avails itself of illustrative as well as linguistic methods. On the one hand it handles the visual processing of anatomy in forms of 3D-illustrations, which enable an observaion of anatomical structures from every possible point of view. On the other hand it deals with the development of a symbolic language, which can capture all structures of the body in its functional and spacial context to process it digitally.
