Aortic ring

German: Aortenring

1 Definition

The aortic ring is a collagenous fibre ring that belongs to the fibrous ring. This spans the aortic ostium and delimits this in the valve plane or the plane of the cardiac skeleton.

2 Anatomy

The aortic ring serves as a solid anchor point of the semilunar valve of the aortic valve. Ventrally, it adjoins the Annulus trunci pulmonalis, and dorsally, it adjoins the left fibrous ring and the right fibrous trigone. On the right, it adjoins the right fibrous ring, and on the left it adjoins the left fibrous trigone.
