Conus arteriosus

Definition

The conus arteriosus refers to the conical transition from the right ventricle in the pulmonary trunk (pulmonary artery). This smooth-walled part of the heart has no papillary muscles or muscle trabeculae (trabeculae carneae) and represents the outflow tract from the right ventricle. The transition to the pulmonary trunk is through the pulmonary flaps marked.
