Definition
The Superior transverse scapular ligament is a short ligament that spans the scapular notch of the shoulder blade. Inferior to the ligament lies the suprascapular nerve, while superior to it is the suprascapular artery.
Clinic
The superior transverse scapular ligament can ossify and lead to compression of the suprascapular nerve (scapular notch syndrome).
